Practical information about Arcachon
Arcachon in a few
Located in the south-west of the city of Bordeaux, the Bassin d'Arcachon is in the heart of the largest pine forest in Europe, between the Gironde estuary and the Spanish border. It is an ideal place for tourism and it is easy to find a holiday rental in the Bassin d'Arcachon because the offer is abundant: hotels, rentals of accommodation in Arcachon with the particulars, bed and breakfast, camping ... The whole of the Arcachon basin constitutes a privileged zone for the surrounding flora and fauna, a haven of peace for the birds, a passing place of the migratory birds towards Africa, but also a shelter for the fishes and other marine animals.
When should we come?
Bordered to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, Arcachon is bathed in the mild oceanic climate and the Gulfstream. The 2,200 hours of sunshine per year bring the Mediterranean region closer to the south. The elegant city reveals its charms throughout the year: in summer, its unique position between ocean, ponds, forests and pine forests, makes of it a very privileged natural site; in the winter, its charming villas contain the memory of the Belle Epoque.
Good to know!
Winter is limited to December, January and February but it can be cool in Arcachon and beware of cold winds that can quickly bring down temperatures. But the wind has an advantage, that of chasing the clouds to make way for the beautiful weather!
